The flooring is permanent. We hose and disinfect daily and it is holding up well as we go into the 3rd year. We plan to do culturing of the floor this year to confirm its antimicrobial properties but we do not perceive a problem.
It is absolutely non-slip even when wet. We do equine lameness exams on the flooring and the footing is sure. We have had spoiled horses rear and pitch fits about hydro-therapy. They do not slip. Compromised animals have stable footing. The non-slip feature is made even better by the fact it is also “skin” friendly. It does not “grab” or bruise skin when animals are down on it. It provides a comfortable cushioned surface that is easy on the legs when standing and the body when recumbent. We often have critical patients hospitalized for long periods and are very thankful for our decision to put in polylast. Yes, we struggled a little with budget and price but I believe it was well worth the investment. We have done the heavy matting and concrete flooring and now can’t imagine going back.
